Two men have been arrested after a resident quickly reported them acting suspiciously by a house.
On Monday at around 12.55am Lukasz Doniec, 31, and Krzysztos Kuba, 28, both of no fixed abode, were arrested after a resident saw them acting suspiciously by a house being renovated in Upper Lattimore Road, St Albans.
The two men were charged and have been remanded in custody.
St Albans district Detective Inspector Pete Frost said: “I am grateful to this resident for calling us so quickly.
"We need residents to be our ears and eyes in the community, so together we can tackle crime and keep our communities safer.
"I would rather receive dozens of calls from well-meaning residents that turn out to be nothing, than not receive any calls.
"This time last year, we experienced a large number of burglaries – please remember to lock windows and doors and ensure any PVCu doors are locked properly by lifting the handle and using the key to double-lock them.
"Give your house the ‘lived-in’ look and consider using timer switches when it gets dark. Save yourself the hassle and inconvenience of having to replace expensive equipment and make sure you security mark your possessions."
