A man found his wife dead in her car after she did not return from a visit to her parents, an inquest heard.

Sinead Symes died after her car left the road as she was travelling back to Hemel Hempstead after visiting her parents in Borehamwood on October 4, 2015.

An inquest at Hertfordshire Coroner’s Court heard today how the 28-year-old’s husband Nathan Symes contacted her parents and reported her missing at around 6.30pm.

Mr Symes and his father went looking for Mrs Symes along the A414 near Park Street Roundabout.

He found her black Renault Clio on its roof at 1.17am on October 5. She was still inside, held in place by her seat belt.

A statement by paramedic Michael Hayes said Mrs Symes had no signs of life and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

PC Matthew Hollingsworth, part of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire forensics collision team said: “Sinead was travelling westbound towards Hemel Hempstead.

“For some unknown reason she veered left and went off the carriageway and down an embankment.

“The driver’s side hit a tree, which contributed to her death. There is no CCTV on the stretch of road so there is no evidence to say why she suddenly turned left.”

According to PC Hollingsworth the weather was dry and a mechanical check of the car revealed Mrs Symes had not been using her headlights due to the time of her journey.

There were no witnesses to the crash and there was no alcohol in her system.

PC Hollingsworth said: “There is no evidence to I have to say how and why Mrs Symes veered to the left.”

Mrs Symes was born in London but grew up in Borehamwood attending Monksmead First School, Furzehill Middle School and Hertswood Upper School.

Mr Symes said after the accident: “Sinead was a gorgeous, caring and trustworthy person, whilst also being a truly independent woman who just enjoyed having fun, and whose smile and laughter was infectious with anyone she came across.

“She was the most fantastic and dedicated mum to our beautiful daughter Orla Rose, for whom I am eternally grateful for and I vow that Orla Rose will grow up knowing her mummy.

“I am so proud and honoured that although Sinead and I were together for almost seven years, I was able to call her my wife for 106 days.”
