A Harpenden born author has marked 2016 with the publication of his 10th book within 10 years.

John Cooper, who now lives in Watford, published Watford History Tour and Harpenden The Postcard Collection in July and August this year, rounding off the collection.

Harpenden The Postcard Collection depicts a vibrant selection of over one hundred and seventy images captured during the first half of the twentieth century by a small but dedicated group of photographers, who recorded for posterity the copious views of this picturesque village and the immediate surrounding area.

Watford History Tour is a comprehensively illustrated guide, seeking to take the reader on a nostalgic journey around the old market town, coupled with a useful location map showing the various places of historical interest, highlighting the tremendous changes that have taken place in the town over the last 100 years.

A retired quantity surveyor and office manager, most of John's spare time has been taken up by researching and writing these books, projects that he has found to be “not only challenging and stimulating, but extremely enjoyable too”.

John will be hosting a book signing for Harpenden The Postcard Collection at Harpenden Books, 48 High St, Harpenden, AL5 2SX, Saturday, November 26, 11am to 1pm and Chorleywood Bookshop, 4 New Parade, Rickmansworth, WD3 5NJ, Frday, December 2, 6pm to 8pm.

As well as for Watford History Tour at Waterstones, 122 High Street, Watford, WD17 2BJ, December 1, 6pm to 8pm.
