A former minister who set up the world’s first national green investment bank is set to give a talk about his time in government.

Sir Ed Davey, who was Liberal Democrat secretary of state for energy and climate change, will be speaking in St Albans next week as part of Sustainable St Albans week.

Held on November 21 at 7.30pm in Marlborough Road Methodist Church, the event, organised by St Albans Liberal Democrats, is free for all.

Sir Ed, former MP for Kingston and Surbiton, said: “I’m thrilled to be speaking as part of Sustainable St Albans Week.

“St Albans sets the benchmark for how communities can develop practical solutions to the global warming challenge. I'm coming to learn, as well as to speak.”

Sir Ed will also speak about the green economy, the challenges of global warming in the 21st century and his work in the first coalition government since the Second World War.

Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for St Albans Daisy Cooper said: “It’s great to have someone with Ed’s background and experience coming to speak in St Albans.

“I fully support moving towards a more sustainable St Albans and events like this are a fantastic example of our community coming together to try and solve some of the world’s biggest problems.”
