A St Albans woman's view from her house has made it into the top ten for horrible views across the UK.

Claire Montgomery is a finalist in an online blinds company’s Worst View 2016 competition, for her picture, which was taken outside her house.

DirectBlinds.co.uk launched the competition in a bid to give away a set of blinds worth up to £250 to cover up any unpleasant sights.

Mrs Montogomery submitted this photo of the view from her kitchen window with the caption: “The owner of the land has planning permission to build two town houses on this piece of land which is derelict.

"I complained to the council in September about the ‘untidy site’ which they agreed to investigate. I’m still waiting.”

She faces stiff competition from fed-up residents across the UK, who sent in pictures of their own ugly views, including the toilet windows in a next-door pub, a peeling brick wall and a car park entrance.

David Roebuck, managing director of DirectBlinds.co.uk, said: “This is the third year running that we’ve held the Worst View competition and we’ve had more entries than ever before.

“It was difficult to choose our top 10 and will be even harder to choose our winner but Diana’s photo was certainly among the worst.”
