Accountants tried to persuade shoppers to part with their cash to help a foodbank.

A team from Mercer & Hole worked alongside St Albans & District Foodbank in Tesco in St Peter's Street, on December 1.

The group gave out emergency item shopping lists, encouraging shoppers to buy extra food to be donated to the foodbank.

Helen Price, a partner at Mercer & Hole, said: “We are delighted to support St Albans & District Foodbank as a key provider of emergency food to those in need within our local community.

“It was wonderful to see the generosity and kindness of so many people last week who took the time to buy extra shopping items for donation. I will definitely be looking out for a collection bin in future.”

The foodbank is run by the Trussell Trust, the UK’s largest foodbank network. The charity provides emergency food for people in crisis and supports a growing number of individuals and families across the district.

St Albans & District Foodbank operational manager, Emma Dalton, said: “We are grateful to Mercer & Hole for supporting the foodbank. Many local people find this service a real lifeline in an emergency - donations really do make a difference.”

Each of Mercer & Hole’s four offices are also running a festive foodbank campaign where for employees to receive an advent chocolate treat, they must donate an item to a foodbank box.
