Carol singers headed to Harpenden Station to raise money for charity.
Members of Soroptimist International – a global women’s organisation – huddled outside the station and raised more than £500 for the St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge.
Jane Slatter, speaking on behalf of the group, said: “A last minute change meant we had to sing outside Harpenden Station instead of St Albans City station, so the £500 felt like a million dollars.
“Recent funding cuts and increased demand mean that the refuge needs additional funding now, more than ever before.
"Refuge services across the UK have been cut or closed down completely following drastic cuts, so we’re so thankful to everyone who joined us on the night.”
