The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for south west Hertfordshire.

The majority of the country is affected by the warning, which runs from midday on Thursday to midday on Friday.

Forecasters are warning snow across south west Hertfordshire, with travel disruption expected.

The Met Office says up to 5cm of snow are possible even on lower ground - though places on higher ground could receive as much as 20cm.

There is also the possibility of winds of up to 55mph in some parts, which could lead to "temporary blizzard conditions".

The snow is currently forecast to start falling early on Thursday. The weather warning is in place until midnight on Friday.

It'll be cold and windy with coastal gales, and frost is likely overnight.

Conditions are expected to become more changeable during Sunday and early next week, with rain and possible hill snow pushing west to east across the country.
