Man's front tooth knocked out during assault outside Batchwood nightclub

An 18-year-old was assaulted outside a nightclub in St Albans.

The man was found on the nightclub’s driveway with facial injuries at 2.15am on Saturday, February 4.

One of his front teeth had been knocked out.

Astronomers discover 60 new planets

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

The international team, which includes Dr Mikko Tuomi from the University of Hertfordshire, found the new extrasolar planets orbiting stars close to Earth’s solar system.

The scientists also found evidence of a further 54 planets, bringing the potential discovery of new worlds to 114.

Psychedelic rock band with ex-Oasis manager Neon Waltz to play intimate gig at The Horn in St Albans

An indie rock band signed to Atlantic Records and with the same manager that took Oasis to the top are coming to St Albans this week as part of their 2017 UK tour.

Neon Waltz are all in their early 20s, with a psychedelic sound that is a rarity among modern music. 

They all hail from the most northerly point of mainland UK, John O’Groats in Scotland, and are currently forging their way across the British music scene. 

St Albans city centre transformation project nominated for Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

A project to transform St Albans city centre has been nominated for a prestigious town planning industry award.

Several organisations, including St Albans City and District Council, have come together to redevelop an area near the Alban Arena.

Now the group has made it through to the finals of this year’s Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence, their nomination is for Excellence in Plan Making Practice.

'They were so happy they burst into tears': Money raised to buy toilets for schoolchildren

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

Almost £3,500 has been raised to buy toilets for schoolchildren in Uganda.

Harpenden Spotlight on Africa has launched an online fundraising campaign to buy new toilets and sinks for pupils at Musoto Christian School.

The school, which is in one of the poorest areas of Uganda, was built by the charity over the past ten years.
