A Welsh National Poet will be giving a free reading of her poetry to St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS) students with members of the public also welcome.
Gillian Clarke is a poet, playwright, editor, broadcaster, lecturer and translator. She has published numerous collections of poetry for adults and children, as well as dramatic commissions and numerous articles in a wide range of publications.
Gillian, who became the third National Poet of Wales in 2008, will be reading at St Peter’s Church in St Albans on March 16, from 11.45am The event was initially organised for Year 11 pupils who are studying a selection of her work for their IGCSE English Literature course.
She will focus on these poems, discuss her inspirations and writing processes, and take questions from the audience. The event will also be suitable for interested A Level students or younger pupils who are particularly enthusiastic about poetry.
