St Albans Cricket Club marked a successful week with the reopening of its refurbished pavilion and the announcement of a major new sponsor for the upcoming season.

More than 350 people attended the grand opening of the historic Clarence Park ground on Friday following a successful fundraising effort which saw more than £6,000 donated.

At the opening ceremony, the club announced the new sponsorship deal with Spire Harpenden Hospital, which will see the private healthcare provider’s logo featured on the club’s first XI team shirts, and all new team shirts and training kit for the other teams for the 2017 season.

In addition, Spire Harpenden Hospital will see its brand featured in pavilion and pitch advertising at the club’s home ground, and in prominent positions on its official website and social media platforms.

Announcing the new sponsorship agreement, Paul Sands, chairman of St Albans Cricket Club, said: “We are delighted to announce Spire Hospital Harpenden as the new sponsors of St Albans Cricket Club. Their proactive approach, community focus and enthusiasm to help develop cricket at all levels makes them the perfect partner.

“We are looking forward to working with their team and hope this is the start of a long and successful relationship.”

Chloe Senneck, head of sales and marketing at Spire Harpenden Hospital, added: “We are very proud to be the official sponsor of St Albans Cricket Club for 2017. They are a successful, progressive organisation that sits at the heart of the wider St Albans community.

“We are looking forward to doing great things together moving forward.”

St Albans is a community cricket club, offering competitive league and social cricket across all standards.  

As well as the five adult Saturday teams and two adult Sunday teams, the club also has a thriving youth section playing regular matches for both boys and girls across a wide range of age groups.

The club is also helping to develop adult women’s cricket in the city.
