Men offering to help fix tiles on the roof gained entry to a home in Harpenden under false pretences.

The two men knocked on the door of the house in Harpenden south ward and offered to fix roof tiles before 11.30am on May 1, after which they drove from the property.

The police originally issued an appeal for "distinctive" items that were thought to have been stolen from the property, though these have now been recovered, and are now looking for the men on suspicion of rogue trading.

The first man is described as white, aged around 40 years old of stocky build, with short curly hair.

He was wearing a deep red jumper, blue jeans and possibly a black gilet at the time of the burglary.

The second man is white, aged around 30 years old of medium build with short, brown hair and was wearing a navy blue or black raincoat.
