Kittens visited care home residents as part of a campaign to connect older people with animals.
The four cats were delivered for the afternoon to Grace Muriel House for residents to stroke and play with, as well as giving them opportunities to share their pet stories.
The event was part of Pet Month from the Abbeyfield St Albans Society, as part of a wider campaign which aims to provide activities and initiatives to connect older people with their communities.
Grace Muriel’s Activities Coordinator Siouxsie Liddle said: “It was a real delight to have the kittens in for the morning.
"They were so cute and even residents who aren’t massively into animals came to play with them."
The event also aimed to give older people a greater sense of purpose in taking care of the animals, and bring health benefits associated with interacting with animals such as lowering blood pressure and helping people reminisce.
The Abbeyfield Society is a charity providing residential care and support to older people, with 601 homes and houses in the UK and overseas.
