Folk at the Maltings concert with Suntrap plus WarnerTaylorFolk and New Roots finalists Anna and Beth on Friday June 2 at 8.00pm. 

Folk at the Maltings is set to feature a group well-known on the UK folk scene, but with a new line up, on Friday, June 2 Suntrap will be joined at the concert by Hertfordshire duos WarnerTaylorFolk and New Roots finalists Anna and Beth.

Suntrap tend to perform an array of music, including both the traditional and contemporary folk repertoire and their own original material, drawing on lyrical English song.

Members Sara Byers (voice, accordion, guitar, banjo, and whistle), Mary Wilson (voice, violin) and John Sandall (voice, violin, viola) founded the group.

After the departure of Paul Hoad in 2014 they were then joined by Sue Graves singing while playing guitar or the ukulele.

Their latest releases include Blue Skin Bay / The Pull of the Tide, So Sweet, Beautiful Boy and The Snow it Melts the Soonest.

The group has played all over the UK and Europe at major folk festivals, folk clubs and arts centres and have the added accolade of opening the Cambridge and Warwick Folk Festivals.

Duo WarnerTaylorFolk are from the village of Kimpton. Steve Warner is a songwriter, guitarist and singer who has been performing in local folk clubs for the past couple of years. Roly Taylor brings to the duo years of composing, recording and arranging and plays tenor guitar and ukulele, as well as backing vocals with beautiful harmonies.

St Albans’ New Roots 2015 finalists violin and viola duo Anna Mullins and Beth Gifford play traditional tunes and their own compositions. They met at music college in Birmingham and since leaving there have gone on to play regularly as a duo.
