A Hertfordshire MP has lost his role as a minister following the General Election.
Mike Penning MP for Hemel Hempstead has lost the position of Minister for the Armed Forces in the Prime Minister’s cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Penning was appointed to the role when Theresa May became leader of the Conservative Party last year after the fallout of Brexit.
The Hemel MP had served in various cabinet roles since 2010 and has represented his constituency since 2005.
He said: "I met with the Prime Minister last night in her office and I gave her my full support in the difficult time ahead as we approach the Brexit negotiations.
"I wish the Prime Minister every success in securing a positive result for Britain, as well as making sure the economy stays on track.
“It is a tremendous honour to continue to represent the people of Hemel Hempstead in Parliament and I now look forward to continuing to work hard on the issues I care passionately about that really will make a difference to the lives of my constituents.”
MP for South West Hertfordshire David Gauke has been appointed Secrertary of State for Work and Pensions.
