A mysterious bird made using a chainsaw appeared in Harpenden to the joy of the locals.
An owl carved with a chainsaw from a tree trunk in Milton Road, Harpenden, was discovered by Judy Hamblin of nearby Overstone Road, Harpenden.
She said: "The lovely carving appeared suddenly - I thought it was a wonderful way to transform a tree stump.
"I just wanted to say thanks for the environmental improvement, I stand I awe of their talent!"
Ms Hamblin said there was a card with the name of the artist beside the tree stump, which has now been removed.
