A MOTHER has found a whole new social network with the help of an innovative app.

Gemma Wallace, 36, of Station Road, Harpenden started using Mush to connect with other young mums in the area.

Mrs Wallace and her husband had moved from London with six-month-old Arthur to increase their living space, and a friend advised her that using the app would be a good way to make new friends.

She said: “Initially I didn’t want to use it, as I was in a new town where I did not know anybody.

“But after I had posted and got in touch with people I realised we are all in the same boat and within a few weeks I had built a whole new network.

“It is hard to meet people, or just walk up to someone in the park, so with this it is good as you know you have something in common and are facing the same battles.”

Prior to using the app, Mrs Wallace did not know anyone in the area and had left all of the friends she had made at neonatal classes throughout her pregnancy in London.

Since creating these bonds, Mrs Wallace arranged a picnic for people who did not know others in the area and has even organised meetings without the children by starting a book club and is in regular contact with people she has met since she started using the app.

The app, which is described on its website as “Like Tinder without the one-night stands” enables mums to find other users with children of a similar age who are nearby and available to play and can be used on android or iphones.
