A football club will name a terrace after a fan who fell from the roof of a stand at its ground.
Clive Churchhouse, 71, of Redbourn, was repairing the roof of the stand in Clarence Park – the home of St Albans City FC – when he fell on in July.
The club has said it will rename the York Terrace as The Clive Churchhouse Terrace, and will be unveiled with its commemorative board by ex-Arsenal and England striker Alan Smith on Saturday
The East of England Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene when Mr Churchhouse fell from the roof, and he was flown to St George’s Hospital in Tooting by air ambulance but sadly died.
St Albans City FC home game on Saturday against Gloucester FC will also have a one minute silence in his honour, and be dedicated to him.
Born in St Albans, Mr Churchhouse was one of the club’s longest-serving supporters, having visited the ground for more than 50 or 60 years, and was often found driving the team and fans' coach to away games.
A date for the inquest into Mr Churchhouse's death is yet to be confirmed.
