Anyone hoping for a last burst of summer weather won’t find it today, as although gales will ease off during the morning, there will still be heavy, blustery showers, maybe even with a bit of hail and thunder.

It’s not all doom and gloom as the sun will still show its face between showers, so fingers crossed this is the worst the weather gets this week.

It’s by no means a scorcher with maximum temperatures of 16 °C, so best to start putting on more layers now.

There’s heavy traffic on the M25 between J16 and J17, and it’s busy on Eastbury Road and Stephenson Way in Watford, the North Circular in Finchley and the A1 running through Borehamwood but there have been no road accidents to cause major delays.

The Chiltern Railways line between Wembley Stadium and Marylebone was closed as a tree had fallen on the line, but normal service has since resumed.
