Entertainers, musicians and community groups are being called to come together to perform at a Christmas market.

The St Albans Christmas Market, running from November 25 to December 23, will have a whole host of festive stalls and workshops available for everyone from toddlers to adults.

But organisers are calling on performers of all kinds, from circus performers, magicians and dance troupes to youth groups and schools to show off their creative chops in the market's Tinseltown Tent.

Cllr Beric Read, who manages for business and community for St Albans City and District Council, said: "Festive entertainment and activities contribute to a great atmosphere at St Albans Christmas Market. Last year, the event attracted a record number of visitors and groups and performers from across the district helped entertain the crowds.

"We are inviting local entertainers, musicians, community groups and schools to show off their talents."

The entertainment is funded by the council and programmed by St Albans Arts Team, part of 1Life.

The Tinseltown Tent will be open seven days a week and there are midweek and weekend slots available, so anyone interested in performing should contact Grae Wall at St Albans Arts Team at grae.wall@1life.co.uk as soon as possible.

Local festival organisers, including St Albans Folk Festival, have been also been offered the opportunity to produce entertainment strands.
