Young goalkeepers looking to hone their craft will soon be able to benefit from specialist training provided by professionals at a new coaching school.
GK Icon – the brainchild of former Watford keeper Richard Lee – is opening a new franchise in London Colney.
Heading up the new project is Gareth Davies - goalkeeping coach at Biggleswade Town FC – and Joel Canning, his counterpart at League One side Northampton Town FC.
Gareth said: “Our belief is that there are certain advantages that some are born with but the majority can be learned through dedicated and focused hard work, and that’s where GK Icon comes in.
“We provide innovative goalkeeper training developed by a team of professionals, perfect for the next generation of goalkeepers.”
To mark the launch of GK Icon London Colney, the pair will be running a free taster session on Thursday, October 26, at Cotlandswick Park - the home of London Colney Football Club.
Open to boys and girls aged between eight and 18, this free taster session starting at 6.30pm will give young players an idea of what a professional goalkeeper coaching session is all about.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in a question and answer session with Richard Lee at the end of the evening.
GK Icon London Colney is part of the national GK Icon brand started by the Ex-Premier League player Richard Lee – who started the venture during his Watford days – together with England goalkeepers Joe Hart and Ben Foster.
