There will be a cello and guitar concert at Forty Hall on March 11 at 3pm, in which audience will be served cake and prosecco in celebration of Mother’s Day.

This is the second visit to Forty Hall for Clare Deniz who already performed unaccompanied Bach cello suites in April 2017 following an appearance at Gloucester Cathedral playing the virtuosic Bach Suites nos 4, 5 and 6 in October 2016.

Clare has been taught by a stream of eminent teachers initially at The Royal Academy of Music and after that her teachers include Jacqueline du Pre and Paul Tortelier.

She has performed throughout the UK at festivals such as Cheltenham and Oxford and Cambridge, Exeter, Du Maurier (now known as Fowey words and music) Halifax, and at music societies and music clubs.

Her concerto performances include Elgar, Haydn C major and Haydn D major the Tschaikowsky Rococo variations.

Clare was filmed playing her cello to nightingales in the manner of Beatrice Harrison who played on BBC radio nightly in the 30s and 40s The film was shown on BBC 1 The One Show. The following year she was filmed again playing to nightingales for BBC South East television re-creating the first live outside broadcast.

She also curated a programme for The National Trust’s Capability Brown Festival 300 in 2016 and performed at Wimpole Hall Cambridgeshire and Compton Verney Warwickshire.

Clare will be joined by Mihael Majetic, a classical guitarist from Croatia currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Michael Lewin. He has also been taught by other renowned classical guitarists such as Leo Brouwer, David Russell, Fabio Zanon and others. Mihael is active in chamber music as well, playing in guitar ensembles, with singers and other instrumentalists.

In June 2017, the Royal Academy of Music awarded Mihael a Timothy Gilson Guitar Prize ‘for a combination of good work, conduct, and general achievement’.

Mihael was a member of Elly’s Guitar Quartet and the guitar ensemble GUEllyBa with whom he has won a number of first prizes in various national and international competitions, for example The Competition of Chamber Ensembles Opatija HDGPP (2010, 2012), Porec Tirando (2011), and Omis Guitar Fest (2010 He has also given numerous solo and chamber music performances in Zagreb, on national television and in the best Croatian music halls such as Concert Hall Vatroslav Lisinski and Croatian Music Institute. He has been a regular solo and chamber music performer at the festival Guitar Days in Zagreb (2008 – 2013) and at the Summer Guitar School Gitarastra in Stari Grad, Island of Hvar (2008 to 2012).
