People are being called upon to be audience members of a topical debate television show which is coming to St Albans for the first time.

Question Time will be held at The Sandpit Theatre, in Sandringham School, St Albans, on Thursday May 3.

The weekly BBC show, which began on Tuesday, September 25 1979, hears from a range of voices and always has representation from the government and the official opposition party, as well as representatives from other political parties.

The rest of the panel is made-up of political commentators and well-known public figures – although it is not known yet who will be making an appearance on the panel in St Albans.

David Dimbleby, who has presented the show since 1994, said: "I am very much looking forward to bringing Question Time to St Albans for the first time.

“What really matters is that we have a lively audience who want to speak their mind. It’s a chance for people in St Albans to get their voice heard not just by politicians, but right across the UK.”

People from St Albans and the surrounding area can apply to be part of the audience through the website: bbc.co.uk/questiontime or by phone: 0330 123 9988
