Harpenden Town Mayor opened a new Citizens Advice Centre this week.

Cllr David Heritage attended the event at St Albans and District's new Harpenden Service.

The event took place at the High Street Methodist Church, where Citizens Advice now offers a drop-in service and pre-booked advice sessions on Monday and Thursday mornings.

Thanks to the generous support of local churches, the Town Council and other funders, Citizens Advice has been able to return to Harpenden after a two-year absence.

As a result, local citizens will no longer have to travel to St Albans to seek help.

Citizens Advice offers free, confidential and impartial advice on a wide range of subjects, including benefits, debt, housing and consumer matters. June Chapman.

Chief Executive of Citizens Advice St Albans and District, said: “We are delighted to be providing an advice service in Harpenden once again and I would like to thank all of the people who made this possible.

"This includes the churches and other organisations that have backed the service financially, but also the volunteers who will give up their time to provide advice to the citizens of Harpenden.

“There are already signs that demand for our services will be strong in Harpenden and, if necessary, we will look at providing more sessions each week to satisfy this demand.”
