A school says it is delighted its pupils achieved such high standards in their A-Level results.

St Albans Girls School celebrated success as teenagers picked up their results yesterday.

Olivia Syson was stunned with her two As and one B. She is taking a year out and applying for a degree apprenticeship.

Nikita Kamath gained 4A*s and is studying engineering at St Catherine’s College Cambridge.

Meanwhile, Katya Alban gained a place to study English and German at Oxford University.

Catriona Lowe is off to Bristol to study medicine after her three A grades.

Eve Wilkinson was ‘speechless’ and is off to study Geography at Durham, whilst Lucia Davighi, who gained three As and one A* i looking forward to studying Architecture and Civil Engineering at Bath.

Headteacher Margaret Chapman said: "These results are only possible because of the unfailing encouragement of parents and staff.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have supported our students so admirably in achieving their superb goals."
