Police have confirmed that a person who was stuck by a train yesterday has died.

He has been identified as a 47-year-old man from Harpenden.

Paramedics and police officers were called to St Albans City station at 3.40pm following reports someone had been hit by a train. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Lines were blocked between London St Pancras and Bedford and St Albans City station was shut while the incident was ongoing.

It is the second fatality on the Thameslink line this week after police confirmed a 56-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a train in Borehamwood on Monday.
