Police investigating a “nasty” assault where a man was knocked to the ground have arrested a man.

At around 8.45pm on August 27, a dispute broke out between two people on the Esso petrol station forecourt in Watling Street, Radlett.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was punched in the face causing him to fall to the ground, knocking him unconscious. He sustained serious injuries and spent some weeks in hospital

He has since been released and is recovering at home.

The attacker jumped into a black Mercedes A180 and sped off.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information to come forward.

Detective Constable Andy Paveley, from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit, said: “We have already spoken to a number of witnesses about what happened but we continue to appeal for further information.

“If you saw the incident and have not yet spoken to police, we would urge you to make contact with us as soon as possible. This was a nasty assault that has left the victim with serious injuries.”

• A 27-year-old man from Bushey has been arrested on suspicion of GBH. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
