THE future of cinema arrived at Hatfield Odeon yesterday- the first cinema in Europe to go digital.
Odeon and UCI cinema have teamed up with RealD to give viewers a brand new 3D experience, installing the revolutionary screens at Hatfield Odeon in the Galleria first.
To celebrate the new chapter Odeon Hatfield are screening the hot new film this winter, Beowulf, in 3D.
Donning state-of-the-art, polarized 3D glasses, audiences will now have the chance to get up close and personal.
Kene Mkparu, general manager at the ODEON in Hatfield, said: "The team at ODEON Hatfield are delighted to be one of the first cinemas in the country, and indeed Europe, to bring the 3D cinema experience to the high street.
"Watching Beowulf in 3D is an exhilarating experience and we can't wait for the film fans of Hertfordshire and North London to discover it for themselves."
The impact of 3D upon today's moviemaking has been compared to the introduction of colour film by some critics.
