THE St Albans postal area is the fourth best in Britain for delivering first class mail, latest figures show.

Between April and December, 87.0 per cent of first class items posted to St Albans were out through letter boxes the next day.

Only neighbouring Luton, Twickenham and Kingston-Upon-Thames did better, while the worst area was Wolverhampton.

Nationally, 83 per cent of first class post met the target, a drop from the previous year based on postal strikes.
