THE St Albans postal area is the fourth best in Britain for delivering first class mail, latest figures show.

Between April and December, 87.0 per cent of first class items posted to St Albans were out through letter boxes the next day.

Only neighbouring Luton, Twickenham and Kingston-Upon-Thames did better, while the worst area was Wolverhampton.

Nationally, 83 per cent of first class post met the target, a drop from the previous year based on postal strikes.

“The fourth best in Britain for delivering first class mail”. It’s how you interrupt statistics. As we rarely get our mail before lunch these days I am sorry but I feel I cannot celebrate this success!

For once I actually believe an official announcement!

Our postal service really is very good - at 10 this morning I got two packets posted yesterday in Edinburgh and Manchester. I also regularly get parcels ordered from Leicester on Friday afternoons delivered on the Saturday morning.

WELL DONE the Post Office!

The statistics are not talking so cannot therefore be 'interrupted'!:-)I think 'interpret' was the word you were looking for?

We seldom get our mail before 1.30 and if our postie is on holiday, it is 3.00 as we have to wait for someone to do an overtime shift.

I have frequently posted letters first class, last post, at the main sorting office and they very rarely arrive next day.

You are of course right DeeGee, my apologies. If I ever make another posting after this embarrassment I will have to ensure I proof read more carefully.
