Festival ends today

PEOPLE turned out in their masses for the Festival of Life to celebrate the diversity of St Albans' rich culture and heritage.

An estimated 15,000 people turned out at the bi-annual event which was also the launch for SAVE (St Albans Values Energy) campaign, organised by St Albans City and District Council.

More than 50 organisations supported the event which celebrated arts, sports, environment, health and the community.

Councillor Chris Brazier, who helped launch the event alongside the Mayor of St Albans, said: "I am very pleased with how the event went, we had a great turnout, the weather was great and people seemed to be enjoying themselves."

The free event saw a variety of clubs, societies and groups demonstrating what they do with interactive games activities and displays and inviting people to get involved.

The Festival of Life is part of the St Albans Festival 2008 which started on June 21 and ends today.

This weekend, the fourth FUZE World Music Festival will be back, with performances and workshops in and around the Civic Centre and the Alban Arena.
