TWO men were arrested and charged following two burglaries in St Albans in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Chris Conlon, 19, of Stangate Crescent in Borehamwood and 18-year-old Dimitri Dontas of Theobald Street, Borehamwood were remanded in custody and were due to appear in court today.
The first burglary occurred at an address in Hampden Place, Frogmore, between 3.15am and 3.20am, where a number of valuable items including a camera and mobile phone were taken.
At around 5.25am a house in Park Street Lane was raided and items including a safe was stolen. It is believed the burglars gained entry through an insecure UPVC door on both occassions.
Detective Sergeant Laura Randall from St Albans crime unit: "We believe a third burglary may have occurred in the Park Street area on Thursday, July 3 - which has not yet been reported to us. If anyone believes they may have been burgled, please contact us so we can reunite you with your possessions."
"We are also missing some stolen property - a digital camera, a handbag, black purse with credit cards and cash, two laptops and a safe containing watches and money. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this property, we would like to hear from you so that we can return this stolen property to the rightful owners."
She added: "The burglars gained access to both of these properties via insecure UPVC rear doors - they were closed and locked, but not double locked, and therefore an easy target for the burglars."
She is appealing to homeowners to ensure all doors are double locked.
