COMMUTERS were joined by MP David Lidington at Saunderton railway station last week to challenge Chiltern Railways over their proposed cuts to rush hour services.

Train users David Devine and Stephen Cotton, who are angry at the new spring timetable, invited the MP for Aylesbury to speak to station manager Chad Collins.

Mr Lidington said: "I do think it is important that a station like Saunderton is not forgotten about. I shall certainly support the residents in ensuring that Saunderton will get a decent railway service."

The MP said he understood Chilterns Railways had to balance making frequent stops with providing a quicker more reliable service but added that the draft timetable due to be implemented in May was not acceptable.

Mr Collins said he felt the meeting went well.

He said: "The whole idea was to listen and to see what we could do."
