Dedicated staff at Hertfordshire County Council, who together have clocked up 1,170 years' service, were thanked for their hard work and loyalty at a special reception.

A total of 54 members of Adult Care Services staff received a long service award at a ceremony at County Hall.

In all, 45 members of staff celebrated giving 20 years' service and nine notched up 30 years. Honours were also given to those who started working in mental health services for Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Trust and its precursors and have been transferred to Hertfordshire County Council over the years.

Councillor Sally Newton, executive member for adult care and health, and her deputy, Councillor Dave Hewitt, presented staff with John Lewis vouchers and commented on how much they valued the dedication of the long serving staff and the care they have provided for the residents of Hertfordshire.

Councillor Newton said: "The hard work of these dedicated people has made a tremendous difference to the lives of our residents who look to us for help and I am delighted that has been recognised."
