Carers in Hertfordshire were rewarded for their efforts in an award ceremony hosted by the County Council.

Accolades were handed out to celebrate the achievements of Hertfordshire's carers, who were acknowledged for gaining NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) in a range of levels over the past 18 months, including health and social care and management.

Specialist diplomas in deaf and blind studies, post qualification awards for social workers, and degrees in social work and occupational therapy were also awarded at a ceremony which was attended by 75 people at County Hall, Hertford, earlier this month.

Sally Newton, Executive Member for Adult Care and Health, said: "As a carer myself, I know what a difficult job it can be so I'm delighted that our staff are getting the recoginition they deserve for their hard work."

Some 133 people have been awarded NVQs in the past 18 months, with one being awarded status as an approved mental health professional.
