AT LEAST 28 vehicles parked on driveways in Harpenden were damaged this weekend.

Police are asking friends of the culprit to come forward to the police anonymously and tell them who is responsible - expecting the vandal to brag about what he has done.

A stone or piece of flint was used to scratch the cars on Station Road and Lyndhurst Drive between 9.30am and 12.30am on Friday August 15 and Saturday August 16.

Harpenden Neighbourhood Sergeant Lewis Ducket said: “Causing damage to cars is mindless vandalism and is a criminal offence, not a prank.

“Not only is it very inconvenient to find your car damaged but is also costs a lot of money to repair.

“We hope someone will tell us who is responsible as we expect they will brag to their friends about what they have done.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Sergeant Ducket in confidence on 01727 796127 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0845 33 00 222.
