LABOUR parliamentary candidate Mike Hobday has slammed Hertfordshire County Council for failing to remove BNP propaganda flyposted around Welwyn Hatfield which he claims is racist.
Mr Hobday criticised the authority for its lax approach in removing a number of posters from lampposts around the borough.
He said: “The last thing Hatfield needs, just after such a serious racist attack, is for the county council to leave these offending posters on its lamp posts for so long.
“Especially with the university term about to start, it is important that Hatfield gives a better impression of our town than these posters.”
The recent race hate attack happened outside Total garage in Bishops Rise, Hatfield two weeks ago when two Pakistani men were jumped on and abused by a gang of youths. The council has vowed to remove the posters at the centre of complaints this week.
Hertfordshire County Council spokeswoman Lara Hejazi, said: "Recently reported posters on lampposts in Hatfield are due to be removed this week, which is within the normal time frame for removing flyposting."
