Shaun Wright-Phillips says he is a better player after leaving Chelsea.
The England winger, now back at Manchester City, says he has become a better player for the experience, and now aims to make England's up-for-grabs right midfield role, his own.
He said: "I'm delighted to be back. It gave me a kick up the backside to be honest, because I knew I had to get myself into gear and get back to what I used to be.
"I am definitely a better player now, a lot wiser and a lot more mature on and off the field. The mental side of things has helped me a lot.
"I put it down to every manager and coach I played under while I was at Chelsea.
"They all played a part because everyone gives you something different and it's up to you whether you want to take it on board. I believe you can learn from everybody and try to take that on as much as possible.
"At City there's a lot of movement so a lot of the time I'm on the left.
"I'm also on the right and I'm down the middle as well. It depends what happens during the game. It doesn't change my game plan either way."
