POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was dragged from a phonebox outside South Woodford tube station and assaulted.

The 20-year-old victim was set upon when she went to use the phonebox near the station entrance just after midnight.

Three men nearby began shouting to her and calling on her to join them before one of them dragged her away from the phonebox to the station subway.

She was indecently assaulted and threatened, but the man was disturbed by a group of teenagers walking towards him on a nearby road and he ran off down the subway.

The attacker is described as aged around 19 or 20, black, 6ft tall, slim, with a scar or design on his left eyebrow. He has dark eyes, a long thin face with high cheekbones and large lips. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with a NY logo in light colours, a dark baggy hooded sweat top, blue jeans, and a gold neck-chain.

Anyone with information on the July 12 incident is asked to call the British Transport Police on 7391 5275 (24 hours) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
