Shake-up for parking in St Albans

EXTENSIVE changes to parking rules on St Albans streets are under way.

Among the changes, which were advertised in detail by public notice last week, giving the public 21 days to object, are new restrictions parking on pavements and verges in Watson's Walk and several streets in Colney Heath.

The Abbey Mill Lane/Orchard Street area is to get a thorough shake-up with restrictions on non-residents lifted in some parts and new restrictions in others.

Complete parking bans will be lifted in parts of Cavendish Road and Cecil Road, while new restrictions will apply in Clarence Road and Sandpit Lane.

Pay and display charges for most streets except Bricket Road will be increasing to £1 for one hour and £2 for two hours.

Bendean, St Albans says...

Makes no difference to me. I live on the outskirts of St Albans and gave up shopping in the town years ago when this crazy NCP scheme was introduced. I go to Harpenden, free parking and much more pleasant. St Albans town centre is gradually being ruined by rediculous council policies.
