FATHERS of children from Park Street School took on a team of Arsenal players and celebrities today aiming to raise thousands of pounds for the school and various charities.
The event, now in its third year, has been organised by Andy Farley through his links to Aresnal football club and aims to raise money for a new climbing frame for the primary school.
Opposing the fathers' team, former Arsenal players Brian Hornsby, Ian Allinson, Tony Murtagh, Danny O'Shea and Chris White joined other footballers Johnny Harrison and Micky Nunn, cricketer Mark Ramprakash, actors and presenteres Giles Alderson, Phil Daniels, Ian Ferguson, Tommy Walsh and Robbie Gee and Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet for the game.
Headteacher Geoff Sturgess said: ”We're hoping to raise a good £5,000 for the school. I hope we raise that much as I've already paid for the climbing frame and the guys are coming to put it in on Wednesday.”
The Arsenal team rose to the challenge and won 8-1.
