AN environmental campaigner from Harpenden is standing as a candidate for the Green Party in June's European Parliament election.

Marc Scheimann, 50, grew up in Albany Court, where he lives today, and went to school at St Columba's College, St Albans, and has been a party activist in the district on for severak years.

He told the Review: "I want a better world, and a new sort of politics where politiciand don't automatically doisagree with what the other parties are saying."

His chances of a seat in Strasbourg are remote, as he stands fourth in the party's seven-strong list for the East of England, meaning the Greens would have to win about half the votes cast for him to be elected.
