CHAMPAGNE and fine food will be on the menu at a fundraising party in Harpenden tonight.

The ladies night has been organised by Hatching Green resident Wendy Matthews, who is holding the first in a long line of Undress for Uganda parties at her home.

However, the women will not exactly be undressing, but will be raising money for charity while having fun.

The aim of the night is for every woman to bring good condition unwanted items of clothing and accessories, which they can buy off each other for a price of £5 each.

All the money raised will be donated to the Child's i Foundation, which has been set up to provide life saving, short-term care for abandoned babies in Uganda, while a permanent home for them is found.

The founder of the charity was Wendy's friend Lucy Buck, a former television producer from London and who worked in Uganda volunteering at Sanyu Babies' Home in its capital Kampala.

She was inspired to set up the foundation after her first hand experience of the poverty and has used her skills to document her time there and post it on the chatiry's website.

Tonight's party is only open to those invited, but anyone interested in attending another one, or holding their own Undress for Uganda parties, can call 01892 852 194, or visit www.childsifoundation.org.
