POLICE are hunting for witnesses after a cyclist was injured in a hit and run in Hatfield yesterday afternoon.

The driver of a blue van sped off in the direction of Hatfield town centre after hitting a cyclist in Wellfield Road at about 12.35pm.

Both the cyclist and the van, which is said to have had a yellow light on its roof, were heading in the direction of the town centre when the collision happened.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

Police are now asking anyone who saw the incident to come forward with information.

Investigating officer PC Chris Rowley said: “We are very keen to speak to the driver of the van or anyone who witnessed the collision take place."
