TRAFFIC is easing on the A1(M) near Welwyn Garden City after an overturned car caused major gridlock for rush hour commuters.
The driver of a Jeep Cheroke, a 27-year-old woman, crashed with a blue Renault Megane at around 7.58am on the southbound carriageway, just past the junction seven slip road for Stevenage.
She was taken to the Lister Hospital after suffering minor injuries when the car overturned.
The southbound carriageway of the A1(M) was closed following the crash causing traffic chaos in Stevenage and up to Welwyn Garden City, but has since been opened.
Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the ambulance service, said: "Thankfully the woman was able to crawl from the overturned vehicle before our arrival. She was assessed on the roadside by paramedics before being taken to the Lister Hospital with minor injuries."
