Harpenden Road crash man suffers life threatening injuries


A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries this afternoon after colliding with a car in St Albans.

The emergency services were called to Harpenden Road at around 4.45pm and the air ambulance, which landed on the grounds of St Albans Girls School, was also called out.

A grey Nissan Qasqai collided with the yellow Suzuki motorbike causing rush hour traffic to come to a standstill while the man was seen to by paramedics.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the ambulance service said the man has been airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with life-threatening injuries.

Harpenden Road still remains closed both ways between Batchwood Drive and Sandridgebury Lane and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
