A ST ALBANS man has been identified as the victim of a serious road crash yesterday.

The 38-year-old motorcyclist was travelling north up Harpenden Road when he was hit by a car turning right into Green Lane.

An air ambulance was called to land in the grounds of St Albans Girls' School, and the man was airlifted to Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge.

The driver of the car, a Harpenden man in a grey Nissan Qasqai, was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.

Harpenden Road was closed at its junction with Green Lane for more than three hours while investigation works took place.

The motorcyclist was thought to be in a serious condition last night and the Review is awaiting an update on his situation.
