A PUB landlord who was nearly forced to close his beer garden after a neighbour complained it was too noisy is celebrating the opening of a new alfresco cocktail bar tonight.
Jass Patel, owner of Mokokos in George Street, won a £20,000 High Court battle bought by St Albans District Council in November to keep his beer garden open following complaints of late night noise from drinkers using it.
Tonight the garden will be a hive of activity as customers swig on a variety of mojitos and daiquiris to mark the opening of the bar's new cocktail garden, sponsored by 10 Cane Rum.
Jass said: "We are just trying to encourage more people to make use of the garden.
"People have this idea that they can't use the garden at all, but the garden is available for use.
"Tonight is about saying thankyou to all the local customers and local businesses who have supported us through this."
