A CHARITY football match will be held in Kimpton tomorrow in memory of 35-year-old Ali Rainback who died of an inoperable brain tumour last year.

The talented ski instructor, formerly of Wheathampstead, spent the last seven weeks of his life at St Francis Hospice in Berkhamstead where he sadly died in June last year after losing his seven-month battle with cancer.

Since Ali's untimely death his parents Diana and Simon of Wadling Lane, Wheathampstead have raised a staggering £77,000 for the hospice, which cares for terminally ill people in the district.

To mark the anniversary of Ali's funeral, Diana and Simon have organised a five-a-side charity football match on Saturday at Kimpton Football Club from 10.30 am untill 5pm.

Diana, who was named January's winner of the Review's search for a community hero, hopes to reach a £100,000 target - enough to fund a hospice bed for one year - by the end of the year.

Visitors can also enjoy a BBQ and other activities including a treaure hunt, egg and dpoon race and a sack race.
