AN 'open garden' in picturesque Ayot St Lawrence has raised more than £3,000 for the British Red Cross.
The event, part of the British Red Cross’ Open Garden programme, was held at Bride Hall, in Ayot St Lawrence, on June 21. It attracted more than 600 guests and raised a total of £3,381.85.
Visitors enjoyed teas and homemade cakes, a plant stall by Mount Pleasant Plants and wonderful music from Flute Cocktail.
It is the second time Bride Hall, owned by Mr and Mrs Desmond, has hosted an Open Garden event for The Red Cross.
Money raised from the Open Gardens programme makes a significant contribution to Red Cross funds. Last year around £34,400 was raised in total for the Hertfordshire region.
Sandra Lucy, senior fundraiser for Hertfordshire, said: “We are always looking for new and interesting gardens to add to our programme. We like to include every type of garden from small cottage gardens to larger landscaped ones.”
